January is here with a new drawing done and another on the way. I thought it would be interesting to show behind the scenes of the process of a drawing to the finished product.
I use a reference to work from, either my own or from a photographer with permission. Below is the photo I took a few years ago when I was still living in Hampshire with my family. Louie was a gorgeous boy to look at but he loved to bite!

I traced around the lines of the photo without going too detailed as I don't want it to be an exact replica but enough for the features to not look out of place. the photo below shows the outlines with the finished drawing.

A lot of warm and cold greys were used and hints of brown for the hues of the colours seen closer to the skin. He was great fun to do, I miss his wrestler shaped nose and meows that constantly changed every week. It will be lovely memory of him as a bookmark and possibly on other things in the future.
